Glazer’s Beer and Beverage Distributes from New Facility
Since 2016, Glazer’s Beer & Beverage company has been collaborating with the Odessa Development Corporation in pursuit of an agreement to add a location in Odessa. After more than a year of communication, meetings, compliance, and travel, a grant of $1.1 million was approved for Glazer by the ODC on May 11, 2017. The Odessa City Council voted to approve the ODC incentive and tax abatement one month later.
The components of this capital investment package include a 115,000 square-foot build-to-suit facility on 20 acres of land in Odessa. This new facility will retain 100 jobs and create another 10 jobs for our community. Glazer’s total capital investment is estimated to be around $14 million, and the return on investment for Odessa will be just over five and a half years.
Glazer’s, a third generation family-owned business that celebrated its 100th year in 2009, is one of the most successful and fastest growing sales and marketing organizations in the wholesale beverage alcohol distribution industry. Glazer currently has twelve distribution locations in six different states, and their upcoming Odessa location will be their thirteenth total and sixth in the state of Texas. Their stated mission is, “To provide superior service and develop positive relationships with diverse suppliers and customers in order to build a world class company that will enable Glazer’s Beer & Beverage to invest in our people, brands, technology, facilities and communities.”
Glazer’s new state-of-the-art facility will be used as a regional distribution and sales/marketing center for the sale and distribution of beer and other fermented malt beverages. This new distribution center will allow for the expansion of other product lines, offerings to customers, and for relationships with new prospective suppliers in the industry to grow.
Glazer’s Beer & Beverage is a positive asset for the growing city of Odessa, and joins Family Dollar, Coca-Cola, and West Texas Food Bank on a growing list of distributors in our area. Adding a distribution center in Odessa will allow Glazer’s to increase its presence and diversify its already strong beverage portfolio. The new facility will not only serve Ector county and the city of Odessa, but also cities in Andrews, Brewster, Crane, Dawson, Gaines, Jeff Davis, Loving, Martin, Midland, Pecos, Presidio, Reeves, Terrell, Upton, Winkler, and Ward counties.
Glazer’s new facility will be located in the Odessa Industrial Development Corporation’s Grow Odessa West Park at 500 South Pagewood Street in Odessa. An event to break ground on construction of the facility took take place Monday, December 4th. The distribution center is set to be complete summer 2018.
