1. Texas Workforce Commission 

TWC offers skills development grants for local employer's seeking to further train employees in partnership with Odessa College. 

The Skills Development Fund
 
A Texas public community college, technical college, or the Texas Engineering Extension Service applies for the grant
which provides:
  •  Training for full-time employees
  •  Training that is customized to meet the needs of the business
  •  Up to $500,000 per business, more for consortiums
  •  Up to 10% of a grant can pay for equipment costs
Skills for Small Business
 
Businesses with fewer than 100 employees apply for the grant which provides:
  •  Training for full-time employees
  •  Up to $1,800 for tuition and fees for new hires
  •  $900 for existing workers
  •  Training from courses offered by a Texas public community college, technical college, or the Texas Engineering Extension Service
Skills for Veterans
 
Businesses of any size can apply for the grant which provides:
  • Training for newly hired veterans
  • Up to $1,800 for tuition and fees in one, 12-month period
  • Training from courses offered by a Texas public community college, technical college, or the Texas Engineering Extension Service

2.  Workforce Solutions Permian Basin 

Workforce Solutions can help businesses find qualified candidates who are trained and equipped with the right skills. We also assist in recruiting and training. We strive to customize our service to your individual needs.

  • Recruiting, screening and referral to open positions (Basic Services)
  • Testing for potential hires and current employees (Customized Services)
  • Consulting on topics such as hiring/firing, Equal Opportunity/ADA, turnover analysis, salary and benefits, unemployment insurance, job skills analysis, staff development
  • Rapid Response services assist with lay off situations by providing assistance to the employees who will be let go
  • Shared Work assistance
  • Finding resources for training new and current employee
  • Providing information about the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, which reduces a private, for profit business’ federal tax liability if the business hires from a target population
